It may not feel like springtime outside quite yet, but that doesn’t mean we can’t create a little spring magic of our own. Today on the blog we have the talented Kassinka with a step-by-step hair tutorial for an easy bohemian ponytail, complete with flower accent. We know what you’re thinking….”Florals? For Spring? Groundbreaking.” But we promise, this flower pony is super easy to recreate and is guaranteed to have you feeling pretty and polished as you take on the new season.
Clip in Luxy Hairextensions at the base of your head to create a voluminous ponytail. Focus the wefts at the back of your head as no volume will be needed in the front for the ponytail. Blend your Luxies in with your natural hair by adding in someloose waveswith a 1 1⁄2 inch curling wand.
Gather all of your hair into a low ponytail at the base of your neck. Secure the pony with a thick hair elastic.
Take a small strand of hair from the underside of the ponytail. Then, tightly wrap this strand around the base of the ponytail to hide the thick hair elastic and secure with 1-2 bobby pins.
Section off a 2-inch portion of hair at the top of your ponytail. Then, divide that portion into three equal-sized strands. Create a simple three-strand braid by crossing alternating side strands over the middle.
Continue braiding down the the length of the braid and secure with a clear elastic. This braid will be use to create the flower accent.
To create a petal-like effect, pancake your braid by pulling out each loop on only one side of the braid.
Take your pancaked braid and begin to wrap it around itself to form a flower shape. As the braid thins out towards the end, coil the braid inwards to emulate the look of a flower.
Hide the end of the braid underneath the flower and secure with bobby pins. Adjust the flower accent until you’re happy with the final look, then pin in place.
And there you have it – a delightful spring-inspired look that is just as dreamy as blooms it’s modelled after. For more springtime content, checkout your spring hair horoscope to see what the stars have in store for your tresses.
