Whiteboards are handy. They can be used for lists, notes, you name it – they are versatile little items. And today I’m going to show you how to make one. This might be one of the easiest DIY projects known to mankind – it will literally take you ten minutes to complete. The glass from a plain old frame will become your whiteboard surface. But I would use the word “white” lightly because it will actually be the color of the wall behind the frame, since it will show through the clear glass. Read on to find out how to complete this simple little project.

Here’s what you’ll need for your whiteboard:

  • Picture frame
  • Adhesive letters
  • Hot glue gun
  • Hammer
  • Nail

First, remove the glass and the chipboard backing from the frame. Place a dab of hot glue in each corner of the frame (on the back side) and lay the glass back down quickly so that it stays attached to the frame.

Then place the adhesive letters on the wall where you’ll be mounting your whiteboard. Choose whatever word or phrase you like. Center the nail in the wall above it.

Hang the frame on the nail, and you’re finished! I told you it was incredibly simple. Now you can go to town making lists with your dry erase markers. It would look really sharp if you placed it on a brightly colored wall, too… and perhaps you could choose a contrasting bright set of letters to give it a super colorful vibe.

This whiteboard doesn’t have to be constrained to lists, either… it could be used for anything – brainstorm session at work, love notes, Pictionary, anything.

And the best thing about it is that you can easily take the whiteboard off the wall to erase it or while you’re writing something new. Then just pop it back on the nail when you’re finished. Have fun!
