How to craft the Wine Cork Heart Wall Hanging:
Step 1: Prepare your base board
The wood board that you collected within your materials needed will be the canvas of your entire project. You are going to want to find a wooden board that is thin enough to hang, yet sturdy enough to be able to glue and hold all of your items onto the board itself. Start by paining your entire board a light color, such as super light pink or even white.
It will not take your board long to dry, maybe only a few minutes or so.
Step 2: Cutting Your Corks
Once your board is all painted and set aside to dry, you can begin cutting your corks. You only really need a sharp knife in order to cut your corks in half.
You can start to assemble your heart outline by placing the dry halved corks in a heart pattern. If you are having trouble making a heart freehand, you can always lightly draw a heart outline.
Step 3: Arranging Your Corks
Once you have your corks all cut, you can start to assemble your heart onto the painted side of your board. You aren’t gluing just yet, more arranging your corks to make sure they all fit and you know exactly how you want to glue them down once you’re ready.
You know your heart is completed when you see a perfect heart shape on your board with no spaces, overlapping sides or gaps.
Step 4: Glue Time
Once you have arranged your corks to your liking, you can now start the gluing process. Using only a small amount of hot glue, lift each piece of cork and glue the back end. Firmly place your cork back into it’s original spot and lightly press down so the hot glue can dry.
You are going to want to repeat this process for all your cork pieces until they are all in place.

Step 5: Creating the Ribbon Décor

Step 6: Embellishing ribbon
Now that your ribbons are all cut and your hanging ribbon is in place, use the textured ribbon to create some fun embellishments in the corners. This will give your entire art pieces some depth and create a stunning piece visually.
Once you now exactly how your textured ribbons are going to look, start to hot glue them using tiny glue dots to prevent any spillage.
You can tuck back and glue any frayed ends of the ribbon instead of having to try to cut them so close to the board itself.

Step 7: Painting
Now that you have your ribbons all in place, you can now start to paint. You are going to want to use your varying shades of pink paint in this step, starting with the darker pink color at the top and gradually going down to the lightest pink color you have for the very bottom of the heart.
This creates an interesting fade in the paint that adds a bit more artistic flair into the piece and is sure to be stunning hanging on a wall or on a mirror.
You should use thick layers of color going through the heart, estimating about two to three rows of cork for each color until you get to the end.
Step 8: Finishing Ribbon
Now that your heart is all painted and dried, you can now focus on more decorative ribbon. Simply measure out a piece of textured ribbon to drape across the heart to give your artwork some more texture.
Once you know exactly how long your ribbon piece will need to be, cut it and prepare to hot glue the ribbon across the actual cork heart.
