DIY Style – Sun Embellishment Tutorial For Your Bag
This DIY Style – Sun Embellishment Tutorial is a perfect way to add a little fun to your bag or clutch. Dress up your accessories, if you will. I used a sun design from a dingbat font then 3D printed it with my Silhouette Alta. Read on for the full tutorial!
DIY Style – Sun Embellishment Tutorial – What You Need:
In Silhouette Studio, create your sun design or do what I did – use a dingbat font. If you are using a font, make sure all the pieces of the image are connected. I used the Weld tool to connect my sun pieces
In the Silhouette 3D Software, open your sun design
A pop-up will appear: Import As
Select Extrusion – then your design will appear in 3D, then if necessary, adjust the height (or other dimensions)
Select the 3D Print Tab on the right
Select the Quality (I used the Standard option)
Press Print. The machine will heat up and print – you will see the countdown of time as well
Once your sun is printed, let it cool then remove the platform from the printer
Use the spatula to gently remove your design and any extra filament
Load the platform back into the printer
Open your jump ring with pliers – I used 2 sets of pliers (one in each hand) to twist (one side toward you, the other side away from you) the jump ring so that the ends opened forward and backward
With the jump ring ends open, put your 3D sun on one end then connect with the hole on the zipper of your bag or tote
Close the jump rings with pliers
How cute is that little retro sun on your bag? You can even make a bunch of them as little gifts for friends!
