DIY Cork Bench @fallfordiy

You guys! The last week has been a long, tedious seven days, battling behind the scenes to get us back online. After both Fall For DIY and We Make Collective went down we ended up moving both the sites, which was not nearly as simple as it sounds. And a week spent staring at my screen had me completely cold turkey creatively. So, as soon as we were back up online I gave myself a little breather and made this DIY cork bench for the entranceway to my new studio layout.

This bench has actually been with me for many years and has undergone a number of makeovers. It’s strangely symbolic. Like the blog it changes it’s appearance, but there’s always the same foundation underneath it all. I’m not sure if you’ve noticed that we’ve had a little blog makeover as well. There are still a few kinks to iron out so bear with me while we put everything in place, but underneath find it’s business as usual. Making things I love.

If you fancy a little breather then this project is a great way to makeover a piece of furniture that needs some TLC this weekend.

Remove the legs from your bench/table and set them aside. Line up the sheet of cork with the top of the bench and tape into place. Cut the excess off with your knife then use the hot glue gun to secure into place.

Continue around the sides of the bench until it’s covered all the way around. I’ve sprayed the legs black for high contrast. Once everything is dry attach the legs back onto the bench and it’s ready!
