While we’ve focused our eyes across the seas in and to find out who’s making design waves in 2018, we’re looking forward to local design discoveries at the fourth annual . Just under a month away, DENFAIR 2018 plays host to the star performers of contemporary art and design — and all under one roof. Just as last year, we anticipate a large serve of emerging talent and established designers, bold brands and familiar faces; all paving the way for a new frontier in Australian design.
After DENFAIR curated 12,000 square metres of best-in-class craftsmanship in 2017, we’re readying ourselves for another year of quality and innovation. If we’ve got anything to learn from action-packed three days, it’s to wear comfy shoes and be ready to walk the aisles of a highly concentrated and interactive design collection.

With the legacy of as the Best Stand of 2017, we’re expecting big things to be on agenda this year. Never shy to experiment, their moss and umbrella showcase caught the eyes and ears of the design-loving last year, inviting a seat on the Klassik sofa with mounds of soil underfoot. Turning our attention to the floor, we’re ready to reach out and touch the latest Heirloom collection by , that too pays tribute to the natural world. For a seat that feels like the ‘welcoming embrace of an old friend’ we’ll be sure to get comfy at . If you’ve got a penchant for curves, we recommend swinging by and and admiring their organic forms. The curves of design will be dressing the halls of Denfair, represented by Living Edge, as will our friends at , set to impress again with Nau, a collection by Australia’s most spirited designers.

There is no lack of intel at DENFAIR and if you’re not sourcing it from the stand-holders, the is the place to be. Free to attend, Denfair offers a discussion and debate of what it means to design in the world we live. Notebook in hand, we’re expecting some valuable insights from those behind the microphone.
For Nordic know-how, the speaker series kicks off on Thursday with the team speaking about their creative and commercial collaborations. Recognising the role design plays in shaping our lives, Thursday afternoon offers the opportunity to listen to a panel of designers curbing the conventional and designing objects that steer clear of gender roles. To celebrate the first day of opening doors, DENFAIR 2018 has scheduled its award ceremony for Thursday evening. On Friday, we recommend trade audiences rest their feet while listening to Designing and Communicating Ethically, where designers talk responsibility and the ability to harm or heal in design.

DENFAIR 2018 may kick off as an exhibit for professionals and their clients, but it welcomes the public to stimulate the design senses for a day. Saturday is for the design enthusiasts, to admire the designs you’ve seen dotted in the interiors of est homes. The will finish off exploring how designers collaborate, fleshing out how they work and what happens when they don’t, followed by an educated note on what it means to break the ‘golden rules’ of design.
Our helpful hint is to leave the kids at home (the event is for 16 and over) and if you’re looking to purchase, keep a list and find out where to see them in store, as there are no sales taking place at DENFAIR 2018.
