A few weeks ago, I wrote about Italian design company antoniolupi in this blogpost and introduced you to their world of carefully designed and crafted innovations for the bathroom. The company continuously invests in innovation, technology and creativity and collaborates with renowned international architects and designers for their beautiful, timeless and carefully crafted pieces. Today, we will have a closer look into one of their newest innovations which allow you to add character and a personal touch to any bathroom: Cristalmood.

Cristalmood was created in-house by antoniolupi as a result of their continuous research. It’s a resin that is manually poured into moulds and sanded manually after extraction to remove all imperfections inside and out and to add brightness to the object. This manual process makes every piece unique, with slight differences in color, size and surface texture. Two sinks of the same design will never be identical.

This material innovation, available in 13 different colors, is perfect for producing sinks and combines well with other materials for a refined mixture of both color and material texture. Take Albume for example, designed by Carlo Colombo, which combines a solid base and a colored basin. This design offers so many possibilities for customisation and allows you to find the perfect personalised piece for your space. You can combine a black marquinia marble base with a Nebbia basin, or go for a more feminine look with a white carrara marble base and a Ginger basin, the possibilities are endless.

After introducing Albume, the research into the possibilities of Cirstalmood continued and as a result, Carlo Colombo and Andrea Lupi collaborated on the design of Opale and Vitreo (seen in the last two pictures). The name ‘Opale’ refers to the geometry and the infinite reflections of precious stones found in nature while as ‘Vitreo’ is a gem that embellishes the environment with its decagonal shape which produces infinite reflections generated by the edges of the design.

Cristalmood is composed of high quality polyester resin and coloring pigments which can be cleaned with common detergents. The transparency of the material allows you to see the flow of the water, which is such a nice effect. The material is very durable, easily cleaned and maintained and can be used in a selection of design sinks, a bath tub and even smaller home objects. I had the oportunity to try the Masa and Nisi vases in Amber and Ocra in my own home and the quality on these hand-finished objects is amazing. I love the way they are translucent, but opaque at the same time, allowing you to see the contents of what’s inside, but fading them out in a subtile way.

The Reflex bath tub designed by AL Studio (seen in the first two pictures) is the first transparent bath tub in the antoniolupi collection and it’s a real statement piece. This freestanding design is customisable into any of the 13 signature colors and I love how the different colors change the look of the design. The black Fumé material gives the Reflex design a heavier look, while as the colors add a lighter and more playful touch to the organic lines of this balanced design.

The combinations and personalisation possibilities with Cristalmood are endless and the designs are perfect for adding character to any bathroom design. This blogpost was written in collaboration with antoniolupi , however all opinions are my own of course. If you would like to know more about the brand and their wide range of bathroom products, make sure to have a look at their website.
