100% eco-friendly material made from cork oak bark is beloved by many interior designers, decorators and common people for its pleasant-to-touch texture, natural earthy color, lightness and easy care. Today cork home décor is enjoying wide popularity. But now professionals do not limit themselves to just facing walls and floors with it – cork can be a great material for making home décor and even furniture, and modern manufacturers know it firsthand. Let’s have a look at what cork stuff can be found in contemporary homes!
1. Table and chairs
IKEA’s Sinnerlig Collection includes a whole set of home décor pieces, but we are interested in a table and chairs with cork tops. And if one needs extra storage room for keeping books or stationery, he may complement the table with a cork rack that can be easily fixed between the table’s legs.
2. Multifunctional wall art

A nice thing about this piece is that it can be optionally complemented with more elements of any type. It’s attached to a wall with common glue or double-sided adhesive tape.
3. Flower vases
Lucky owners of eco-style or Scandinavian interiors can safely decorate their homes with transparent glass flower bases with cork necks by Zara Home.
Cork Time clock by Zuiver has a matte cork face and painted aluminum hands – laconic, natural and stylish!
5. Bathroom accessories
Corkwood feels good about moisture, and hence can be safely used in bathrooms. The ceramic and cork Kera bathroom collection designed by Erika Kovesdi for Umbra includes a soap dispenser, a toothbrush holder and a soap dish.
6. Pendant lamp
The Casuluz pendant lamp from the Corkmatters Collection by Tiago Sa da Costa has an amazing lampshade: it’s composed of two cork “cocoons” connected with a magnet. Thanks to such a structure, the amount of lighting can be easily controlled. A fully equipped lamp gives little diffused light and thus creates intimate, romantic atmosphere. And to brighten up the lighting scenario the bottom part can be easily disconnected and used as a separate piece of décor.
Coasters made from solid cork pieces can hardly surprise anyone. That is why designers of Ferm Living showed their imagination in creating an ornamental piece from cork beads strung on a leather thread.
8. Perforated inspiration board
The Pinorame wall piece designed by Inga Sempé for the Hay brand is made from perforated metal and cork and ensures compact and convenient storage of versatile papers, pictures, and notes that should be always kept in front of your eyes. This board can be additionally complemented with a pen and pencil holder, a mirror or a rack.
9. Thermo cup
Cork perfectly preserves its normal temperature and can be hence used on thermo cups to protect hands from the heat of morning coffee. This Filter cup by Keepcup has tempered glass walls, a sealed silicone lid and a cork rim.
