Coastal Style Cottage Into A Holiday Escape

Today many people crave an escape for a holiday where you can momentarily escape from all the bustle. Instead of having to go on vacation, I think bringing the holiday atmosphere to home style is the best option right now. Interior designer Kristy Spencer has successfully turned an old weather plank hut into a beach escape for their family near the Blue Mountains in Glenbrook, NSW.

It started when Interior designer Kristy Spencer found an old weather plank cabin for sale in the foothills of the beautiful Blue Mountains in Glenbrook, she realized this was a great site between the mountains and the sea. Within a few months, she changed three-bedroom cottage that became a breakout awesome beaches that pays homage to nature around the village of Glenbrook.

Interior

Almost the entire cottage is undergoing renovation as requiring the manufacture of four double bedrooms, the master bedroom featuring a private bathroom with a free standing bath tub, and some formal living room and casual zones throughout the room. It includes a living room, open dining room that flows into the rear alfresco area, and the backyard is a separate level which includes a built-in seating, a fire pit and a pizza oven made of wood. At first the house really looks dull which is also overgrown with old trees completely, but Kristy can bring out its potential, it has a view overlooking the treetops, with a very calm afternoon breeze.

Family holiday cottage

Kristy started this project with her own signature style, even she herself decided to oversee the entire project as owner and builder. Renovation itself lasts for two stages, with Kristy assisted with their teenage son Blake and Seth who stayed at home during the first phase. However, many challenges occurred during the demolition, when the foundation of the house collapsed, which had to be rebuilt and stabilized. That means time and money.

Fun beach theme

After all the construction was finished and the decorating started, Kristi’s two sons were very much involved in the plan. Thus, the decision to choose a fun beach theme makes a lot of sense. It’s like taking holidays into the interior, the feeling of being on vacation at the beach with a beautiful space filled with light, lots of natural ventilation, and focus on bringing the outdoors. Minimalist white style on the walls, doors and ceiling, and kitchen cabinets give a beautiful seaside allure, while décor of fresh flowers and greenery brings a natural feel to the home. Clean contemporary lines throughout the room highlight the architecture while paying homage to the Glenbrook countryside.
