Back in 2013 we moved in to our newly built home and for our first Christmas, we treated ourselves to a Nespresso machine. I still remember the excitement of starting it up and making our first coffees. From that day we were hooked and as I’ve said numerous times since, I’m not sure how we ever survived without it! I think I will always associate Christmas morning with Nespresso, but the truth is, this is how I start every morning. With Christmas being a super early start – thanks to very excited little boys wanting to unwrap their presents – and a very big day, savouring a Nespresso coffee is one ritual that carries on regardless of all the festivities. In fact it’s a rule in our household that present-opening can only commence once we are sitting in the living room around the tree, with cups in hand.
On the weekend we picked up a beautiful Nordic Spruce tree. The traditional European Christmas tree is not easy to source in NZ so I was happy to have found a grower in South Auckland. With some gorgeous new decorations from Città and presents wrapped in simple brown kraft paper and string, along with black ribbon I’ve saved from packages throughout the year, this scene is exactly how I imagine it will be on Christmas morning. Well at least until the chaos of opening presents ensues!
