small bathroom storage

Why are bathrooms in England so small?  Even if you live in a big house, somehow the bathrooms are still small and worse, most houses don’t have enough bathrooms.  I dream of having one of those pinterest worthy bathrooms where you can fit in a free standing bath, a sofa and even an elephant if you wanted! But in the meantime, it’s a repurposed Ikea piece to the rescue.

I needed some extra bathroom storage but I didn’t want to add built in cabinets as they can look bulky, especially in a small bathroom, like all mine are.  I recently spotted this Ikea Sunnersta trolley for under £20 which is part of their mini kitchen range, and realised it would work as the perfect small bathroom storage solution. And the best part is that it’s all white and clean looking so you don’t even have to hack it in any way.

As the trolley is open, I got some storage baskets boxes and containers to hold my stuff and make it look neat.

I used a black wire basket to keep the towels in order.  I got a medicine box because medicines look so messy but in this box they’re out of sight.  I’ve also clipped on some bulldog clips to the side of the trolley which act as little hooks to hang stuff from – I didn’t fancy drilling in to metal as I probably would have ended up ruining the trolley.  So the bulldog clips were my answer.

Storage in a small bathroom can be a challenge, especially if you want a clean and clutter-free bathroom. But I think carts or trolleys can often be the answer.  They hold a lot of stuff and they don’t cost much.

Do you have a small bathroom storage tip? I’d love to hear in the comments.

P.S. I didn’t shoot this in my bathroom simply because my bathrooms are too small for me to get enough distance to shoot. Therefore no bathroom shots here but the trolley fits great in my small bathroom.
