An off the grid retreat has been built in the Daintree Rainforest in Queensland, Australia. Designed by
“The exterior of the house is camouflaged with black plastic cladding and mirrored glass, allowing it to recede into the shadow of the rain-forest. The design accentuates the qualities of the rain-forest coupled with attributes of holiday life at the beach. On approach, the interior of the house becomes apparent: a light space clad with plywood, a counterpoint to the otherwise cool, dark green surrounding forest. Tall, south-facing windows and a dark blue ceiling is used to draw in the rain-forest canopy.”
Intermediate spaces morph relaxation spaces that are both in and out.
Extensive glazed walls make the transition from the natural to the built more accessible, allowing light to flood the space.
Wood has been chosen as the primary finish in the interior design.
The shower area invites the natural in for a complete relaxing experience.
