On a chilly winter’s day, stumbling across the works of California-based architect
Refreshingly free of clutter, trend-centric features or obvious contemporary elements, his Californian homes feel fitting of both modern times and midcentury style. While we certainly have a bias towards warm hues, natural materials and timeless pieces, the way these elements come together in Leidner’s work has us casting an eye to our own spaces with the inspiration to refine and respect every element in harmony with its surrounds – or alternatively hopping a plane and making a sea change to the California lifestyle ourselves.
DESIGN
One of Leidner’s most recent projects is the Greenwood House, a renovation of an Eichler home in Paulo Alto. Weaving together the original design with a light modern touch, the extensive renovation is testament to Leidner’s ability to reimagine core design elements without overturning the best of the original structure.
