This time of the year is the most difficult one for me to enjoy. Daytime light is still quite scarce (and I don’t even live in a Nordic country, imagine), the weather is grey and even though it’s not that cold here in Munich, spring just seems so far away. When the weather outside gets like this, I feel the need to surround myself with subtile hints of spring in my interior and it really changes my mood. I usually switch towards a lighter color palette as well and this helps create a cozy and light atmosphere at home.

I decorated my office with the new BLOOM BOTANICA series from Georg Jensen, a 20 year anniversary edition to the popular BLOOM Collection launched in 2000. Helle Damkjær – the creator of the original BLOOM Collection – designed an extended collection in honor of the anniversary including vases, tealights and candleholders.

The sculptural, elegant pieces fit perfectly together, but are great on their own as well. The big BLOOM BOTANICA vase is perfect for a large bouquet. I styled it with a dried arrangement, which is leaning towards one side so that you can still see the wonderful ‘blooming’ shape on the other side. I combined it with the tealight and candle holder and I love the way the reflect upon each other, especially when you light the candles.

For the original BLOOM series, Helle Damkjær found inspiration in the  cherry blossoms on her first visit to Japan. For the anniversary extension, she went back to the moment when life emerges after a long cold white Scandinavian winter. The first sprout of a seed or flower bulb suggests a moment of creation and a new beginning.

The organic shapes of the collection contrast very nicely with the cold stainless steel and I think the reflection of the surroundings into the pieces is a piece of art in itself. This is something that you can notice in many of the Georg Jensen pieces and I think it really makes the products stand out in an interior.

This blogpost was created in collaboration with Georg Jensen, however all opinions are my own of course. If you would like to know more about the brand and new BLOOM BOTANICA series, have a look on their website.
