Few decades back we were told to take care of our natural resources and yet we took everything for granted. Those were the times when we were asked, if we don’t care of these nature’s gifts then what will our kids and grandkids inherit from us? But that time has passed off and now we are seeing the outcomes of choices we made.
Did you know that plastics have been found in stomachs of deepest sea creatures? Synthetic fibers probably that originated from plastic bottles, packaging and synthetic clothes have been found nearly 11km deep reaching the most remote places on the planet.
And there is something more to surprise you further: as per another study tiny particles of plastic were found in sea salt and it’s a global phenomena. And these tiny particles of plastic will find their way into our food through the salt in our diets.
And here is the final surprise for you: as per the latest study the inevitable has happened, microplastics have been found in humans too.
Now we got these microplastics in seafood, drinking water, sea salt and finally us too. Perhaps its right time to act now. But why all these studies and data in an “Awesome Drain Artwork” post? Well, there is a very strong reason for this: wastewater goes to a treatment plant before let out into the ocean or lakes but stormwater flows directly to our lakes, ponds and rivers. These stormdrains are the mouth of our streams, lakes and rivers. And this decorative drain art is an attempt to educate everyone and let them know that stormwater flows directly to our streams, lakes and rivers and they should be conscious of what they put there as it can enter those waterways. We are responsible for protecting our valuable natural assets.
