It’s no secret I’m a big fan of plinths, and at the end of last year I purchased another outdoor plinth to use indoors. It was a dark grey colour which was perfect for a bedroom shoot I was working on (coming to the blog later this year), but I was keen to paint it a softer colour afterwards for home, specifically for our downstairs living room. Using some leftover Dulux Kauri Cliffs Double paint from our downstairs makeover, the plinth provides a seamless look while still managing to elevate the room. I love that such a simple DIY can be so impactful. It also covers up the ugly power point and provides a place to display favourite objects, books or flowers.

As always I’m intrigued at how the paint colour in this room changes throughout the day in different light. I took these photos in the late afternoon with sun streaming through the windows and I love how warm and tonal the room looks. I had lots of queries about the shelves on Instagram yesterday, so in case anyone missed the original post, it is the BoConcept Bordeaux Console Table
