Our style icon: Lauren Hutton began her professional career in 1965, at a time when Europeans dominated the scene and Americans had to put in extra legwork – literally – just to get cast. She remembers walking all over town in pursuit of work. “I was short, and I had a gap between my teeth – which wasn’t allowed at the time. I had to work pretty hard to get my foot in the door,” she explains.
