All the Nice Tops That Are Having a Moment This Summer

Thanks to the likes of Lauren Conrad and Mischa Barton most of us spent the majority of the 00s in jeans and a nice top, and this year fancy blouses are becoming just as popular as they were back in 2005. There are five types of blouses in particular that are in every new-in section this summer, whether you’re shopping at Topshop or Jacquemus.

For those who never shy away from a statement, there are several blouses which are guaranteed to turn heads this summer. The first is organza tops with romantic sheer billowing sleeves and oversized bows—depending on the colour and amount of sheer fabric these can make you feel like Grace Kelly in High Society or can be a more high-octane look. Then there are certain silhouettes that keep reappearing in different forms—puffy sleeves, square necklines and knot-front shirts are all details that will make your every day jeans feel a little more special.

This is the one trend that Zara is throwing everything into this summer—organza. The general rule here is the more bows and the sweeter the hue, the better.

Square necklines have been championed by smaller Instagram brands like Staud and Ganni, and now you’ll find them all over the high-street. The & Other Stories gingham top is our favourite.

This one has a lot to do with the French designer Jacquemus, who has redefined sexy with knot-front dresses and blouses.

Floral blouses aren’t groundbreaking, but they are certainly a dependable classic. If Jeanne Damas is a fan—we’re with her.

Exaggerated puffy sleeves are proving popular on dresses and blouses this year—whether you go for a white blouse or a bold print, the oversized sleeves make this type of blouse a real head-turner.
