i shared our charming airbnb in joshua tree last week, but i thought i’d share a peek around town with you. joshua tree is kinda quirky, kitschy and filled with artists creating right in the middle of california’s mojave desert. i found it kind of magical and the light especially caught my eye. i think it must be all that sand reflected by the sky that gives it this really ethereal feeling. if you happen to take a road trip to joshua tree a few places i think are a must stop are right along Twentynine Palms Highway — like the world famous crochet museum and definitely the shari elf gallery (check out her instagram for an idea of the kind of artwork shari creates — i bought her “what would cher do” original art pieces for just $2!) which are both located in the same art queen hideaway art emporium. nearby is Jeff Hafler’s Beauty Bubble Salon and Museum — a full-time hair salon dedicated to all things hair and beauty. and if you’re hungry — i highly recommend crossroads cafe for a yummy brunch, just down the street.

another great shopping experience is the end — an oasis of vintage fashion and home goods i loved. i picked up a great vintage handbag for just $20 and could have left with a lot more. you can shop their cute t-shirts online in their etsy shop, too. just down the block is another treasure trove of vintage clothing, promised land. the proprietor anessa also runs bustown modern — a great resource for more vintage designer fashions. if you like vintage vinyl, be sure and check out hoodoo — i scored some great oldies, including nancy sinatra’s these boots were made for walkin’ and some dick dale (who apparently lives in joshua tree!). pioneer crossing is another wonderful vintage shop — a consignment antique mall that feels almost like a museum because there’s just so much to peruse! i came across some great vintage painted portraits here, and also just down the block at the anonymous society a fun little gallery with tons of great vintage paintings. i found myself a new (vintage) painted portrait i’ve named george and he’s gorgeous. one of my very favorite stops was the joshua tree rock shop — i fell into some sort of crystal spell and ended up leaving with a large collection I’m going to post about soon! have a look around joshua tree!
