I’m so honored to have not one but two designs in the campaign – a collection of giftable DIY knits on sale leading up to the holidays. Whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Diwali, any other religious holiday, or just life itself, these items will make the perfect presents or special additions to your own wardrobe. Both of my designs in the campaign – this and the – are designed to be meditative pieces for the maker and items that can be easily infused with mantras and good thoughts to be gifted as prayer shawls or peace wraps.
The Affirmations Scarf is quick knit worked up in featuring a simple four row lace repeat that looks much more complicated than it actually is. As I was making it I chose four different affirmations and repeated them over and over across each corresponding row. It made for a therapeutic and peaceful experience, and each stitch is then instilled with positive energy that will be carried over to the recipient.
Due to the speediness of the pattern, this also makes for an excellent last minute present. It’s an easy level pattern and the techniques involved are the knit stitch, purl stitch, yarn over, slipping stitches, and the s2kp centered double decrease. Note: Sl sts at the beginning of the row are slipped purlwise with yarn in back on right side (odd) rows and with yarn in front on wrong side (even) rows.
CO 26 sts.
Row 1 (RS): Sl 1, *YO, S2KP, YO, K3, rep from * to last st, K 1.
Row 2: Sl 1, P across row.
Row 3: Sl 1, *K3, YO, S2KP, YO, rep from * to last st, K 1.
Row 4: Sl 1, P across row.
Rep rows 1-4 until scarf measures 78”/198cm when laying flat.
Bind off. Secure and weave in all ends.
