Pharrell Williams is back with another collection for adidas Originals for Spring/Summer 2018 with a 3-part Series. This new season brings inspiration from northern India and the ancient spiritual Holi festival, known as the festival of colour. Pharrell is obviously known for his colourful trainers in collaboration with Adidas, however the first part of this series, launching tomorrow (February 23rd 2018) is completely white and aptly titled ‘Blank Canvas’.
If you have taken part in any of the Holi festival celebrations in London, or around the world, you will know that you are encouraged to wear all white whilst bags of brightly hued powders are hurled in the air and at one another; the colours represent long lasting good fortune for the future. The Blank Canvas collection is made up of four pieces of clothing and footwear (3 pairs of trainers and one track top) that continue Pharrell’s message of peace and equality.
This is the fourth year of the highly successful collaboration between adidas and the NERD singer. They have chosen to continue the Hu journey in this series with the extremely popular Hu NMD and the more recent Tennis Hu. The third pair of shoes in the collection are the more modern take on the classic Stan Smiths. All three designs consist of a Primeknit upper and white laces, with the Stan Smith and Tennis shoes lined with white leather. The final piece is the Hu Knitted TT which is an engineered, 2-way zip, track top. This stark and crisp white top features various panels and patch-style embroidery, with the phrase “HU MAN BEING” inscribed on it.
This pristine collection is perfect to bring about the excitement of the upcoming spring and summer 2018 seasons. All the pieces can be worn as they are in their pure white form, which would look great on holiday with denim shorts and a simple white T-shirt – or you can choose to be more creative by adding colour – in whichever way you please, as Pharrell is strongly encouraging due to the soulfulness of the Holi festival. You don’t have to wait long for the next two series as they will be launched by the end of the month, so keep your eyes peeled, these
