A Designer's Dream Brooklyn Home 15

An old house can be the key to your dream house. Do you agree? Sounds crazy but not so for Alison Jennison, a young designer who amazingly transformed an old townhouse into her dream home. Located in Brooklyn, the home’s fresh, modern, and beautiful look portrays Alison’s great taste, creativity, and professionalism. I know you may be wondering what magic she used to give such an ancient house life successfully. Don’t fret, sit back and continue reading to grasp insight as I take you through its stunning interior transformation.

Though the house still has history traits, Alison did a perfect job in its orientation and layout. Initially, the fireplaces were six, but she got rid of them except the one found on the third floor. She relocated it in its original form to the sitting room. At the rear of the primary living space, she replaced the cramped corridor with a wall of glass, allowing more light and fresh air. To maintain the old style and feeling, the young designer painted the walls white, put pale floors and the warm wood tones. As an expert, she chose furnishings with an old touch.
The ground of the cozy living room rocks the vintage Afghan kilim. Thanks to Roost which supplied her with a curvaceous cane chair that perfectly complements the ground. Jennison’s chunky throw knit and a leather Avo pillow also adds to the list. You will love the kitchen which she enhanced its dark cabinetry and open shelves accented with brass. You will also see an upright piano, placed neatly by the corner as a reminder of her husband’s childhood.
Alison and her husband got inspired by their favorite hotel, the New York City, in creating their master suite. Upstairs, some walls had to go, creating room for a tub in their bedroom. You will find wide plank flooring that runs straight into the bathroom. A pocket door separates the two rooms. While lying in bed, you can see whoever is in the tub. To add a touch of romance to the bathroom, Alison used the claw foot design, and custom painted it in Off Black by Farrow & Ball.
You will fall head over heels with the cheerful nursery that comes with a colorful finishing. It portrays a combination of history and the Jennison’s favorite elements. Looking at the artworks and the glowing metal hearth, you get to experience Brooklyn’s coolness and love. Don’t you think that this was the main reason why she chooses this house for her family? Who wouldn’t?
