There are some people who are willing to try everything once at least in life. Whether it’s food, a new adventurous activity, or something totally random, they always have an open mind and a passion for new experiences. But that’s not the case for everyone. There are some people who enjoy the stability of a subtle life – in their 9 to 5 job and with family, weekend parties with friends and occasional luxury trips. This article is not for the latter ones – but for the ones who are always ready to leave with their backpacks!

As the famous proverb says, “I haven’t been everywhere, but it’s on my list” – here are a few signs to prove that you are born to travel.

“I haven't been everywhere, but it's on my list” - here are a few signs to prove that you are born to travel.

1) You always have a checklist on your mind and you’re ever ready to leave.

Just traveling to a new destination isn’t enough for you; travel planning and research is something important for you and you are always ready to take that to a whole new level. The search for the best deals on flights, the reading of hotel reviews and the rearranging of your itinerary never seems to pause. And, when you get back from one trip, you delve immediately into the planning stages of the next one.

2) You never have any money in your bank account, because as soon as you save, you’re off on your next trip.

While everyone else around you is busy saving money to buy a house or paying EMI for a brand new car, you are counting how much you need to save for your next trip. You have several Fixed Deposits, each meant for a trip abroad to your dream destinations! Your focus is to save as much as you can in order to cover as many places as possible. And you’re never stressed when your bank balance is low because you know it’s totally worth it to spend money on the things you love!

3) Your Instagram profile has #traveler #wanderlust #neverstopexploring as the most used hashtags.

Your social media profiles can make anyone jealous! Whether it’s photographs of your volunteering trip or of a festival you attended in Spain – each of them has stories that others are missing. All your photos have hundreds of ‘likes’ and ‘comments’ with people drooling over them and wondering how you have such a happening life. Your intention, on the other hand, is not to show off but to inspire others to hit the road and travel to an unknown destination.

4) Your backpack is your favorite possession, apart from your passport.

Packing is an art and not everyone knows how to pack smartly! You, however, are a pro at packing – and your backpack is your favorite belonging! You have a set of clothes and toiletries separately for your traveling ventures, and whenever you have to leave, you just throw them in your backpack and that’s it – you are all set to go! And then comes your passport – that has stamps of different countries, and it’s in dire need of more pages. Each of those stamps has thousands of stories attached to them, with only you the witness to those tales.

5) You have boxes filled with currencies from around the world.

While other people are busy buying souvenirs – you bring back currencies from wherever you go! Now, you have boxes full of coins and notes from Mexico in the West to Japan in the East and from Ireland in the North to Australia in the South. And that’s not the end – you want more, and that’s why you are still planning where to go next. You aren’t a numismatist – you are just an ardent traveler with the dream of seeing the world’s beauty.

6) When people call/text you, they don’t ask “How are you?”. Instead, they ask “Where are you?”

While a normal greeting for everyone starts with “How are you?” – in your case, people would know that you are good because you are traveling. Their curiosity would be to know ‘Where are you?’ – since your Facebook profile photo is from somewhere in Miami and your latest Instagram post shows a beach in Thailand! Only you know where you are – for everyone else it’s a mystery!

7) You know how wonderful it is to sleep under the stars, where the sky is your roof and the grass is your bed!

When your friends plan trips, they always choose fancy hotels and dine at high-class restaurants. For you, homestays or camps where you can just sit out next to a bonfire or sleep under the sky looking at the stars are more your style. You love to try the local cuisine sold at the roadside shacks and the meals served by the host at a homestay.

You are one happy person who has an extremely positive attitude and you know that no matter what happens, the roads will remain your best friends. You don’t need another one to accompany you, but you don’t mind a companion as well. Having meals alone isn’t a sign of loneliness for you, and the mountains and beaches have all become chapters of your book.
