If the age becomes a hindrance, ignore it. It will keep growing at its own pace. Meanwhile, what you have to do is to not to show your age in your appearance. The idea is for you to look not just young, but sharp and smart and a wise man with a maturity that has come with your age and lots of experiences. And that is achieved by poised appearances with outfits that will define your personality.
What not to do
Before we get started on what to do with your wardrobe, let’s first learn what exactly that you are not supposed to do. While the idea is to look young, you can’t make that possible by dressing like a hipster. Neither wearing untucked shirts with wild hair nor coming up with a nonchalant appearance.
The next thing you should not do is buying baggy clothes for yourself. Your age is growing in numbers, not in size! So no baggy clothes and no loose fitted shirts or trousers for you. With age your body might change, so opt for clothes that are neither too tight nor too loose. Also, while buying jeans make sure you don’t pick up any distressed or ripped jeans either. None of those anymore for you.
Colors for You
It’s not that you won’t be allowed to wear colors anymore. It’s just that you will need to avoid certain colors and integrate some shades more in your wardrobe for a suitable look. Stick to neutral shades and classic shades such as navy, burgundy, grey, and camel. Bold colors will not suit you so don’t try wearing purple chinos and red trousers. Subtle colors that will look pleasing to you are exactly what you must be looking for. Choose dark shades in trousers and denim as well. For summer though, you can go for light grey, white and khaki pants.
Only sharp suits are not the option you have after crossing that line of fifty.
Grey is the shade for you
By now you must have started getting pepper salt hair. Don’t dye them just yet! Perfectly styled grey hair and a grey outfit will definitely leave an impression. For a casual office outfit, try grey trousers with a matching jacket and a crisp white shirt underneath a grey V-neck sweater. Make sure there’s a variation in the shades of the sweater and your jacket.
Your options in accessories might be few but using them you can get a totally new you! Let age do its work and you gear up to face it with accessories best for you. Fedora hats or Panama hats would make a nice addition to your wardrobe. Don’t fuss much about wearing a scarf in neutral or subtle colors either. It will build a personality. Sleek and bold watches with classic leather belts or in metal, will add more pizzazz.
Shoes are an important factor of the outfit and so while choosing your footwear you can’t throw caution to the winds. You need shoes that will not only look good but will be comfortable as well. So while you might have many sneakers from your early days, make sure that now you wear the ones with subtle designs that are designed for mature men. Loafers, deck shoes, driving shoes and monk straps are the best options for you. Chelsea boots for the winter while suede espadrilles in summer will be a great addition too.
The aging cannot be stopped but rather than growing old get younger with few changes in your wardrobe like adding wool polo t-shirts and well-fitted jeans.
