Your face is the first thing people see, and unless you’re a year-round nudist, is the only part of your body that is always visible. This is why you should pay special attention to it. Thankfully, here some sound advice with help from our friends over at French grooming brand Horace.
Every day: cleanse!
Did you know? The skin on your face is thinner and more fragile than the skin on your body. So, it seems like common sense to use a cleanser that is specifically designed for your face; it will help you get rid of impurities without drying out your skin, as opposed to common soap, which is more aggressive. Some areas of your face are more subject to spots and blackheads than others. If this is the case for you, pay special attention to your nose and chin, which are generally the most affected.
Every day: moisturise!
A moisturiser plays the role of a shield and protects your skin from irritation, dry skin and pimples. When it’s well moisturised, your skin will look healthier and more protected. It’s the other essential part of your daily routine. Once you’ve washed your face, simply apply some moisturiser to it. This step is crucial, even for oilier skin types – all skin needs protection.
Once a week: scrub up!
A more occasional grooming habit, but nonetheless an important one. A good face scrub will remove dead surface skin cells from your face. These skin cells gather and affect your skin tone and general complexion evenness. Don’t let these skin cells build up – take action as soon as you think it is necessary – once to twice a week. As a bonus, a scrub is also handy to get rid of ingrown hairs, something shaving aficionados will be happy to hear. If you shave regularly, use a face scrub before to prepare your skin.
Every two weeks: mask on!
Your facial skin will require a deep cleansing every two weeks. To do so, you’ll need some alone time at home and a cleansing mask – made of clay. This mask will remove deep-seated impurities and thereby purify your skin. Sit back in your most comfortable chair, browse MenswearStyle, and let the mask go to work on your skin for 10 or so minutes. A great Sunday night activity, if you ask us.
