All three of the costumes I made can be made with just a few materials you probably already have and in just an hour or so!
Materials needed:
- cardboard
- x-acto knife
- paint
- paint brush
- hot glue gun (only for the flower pot)
- elastic
FLOWER POT COSTUME
I sketched out and then cut out the flower pot, painted white along the edges and let dry. I used thinner cardboard and painted a bunch of flowers on them and cut out around them. Then I cut an extra piece of cardboard and cut slots in each side to run elastic through and then glued it to the top of the backside of the flower pot – leaving the top side open. Then you can stick the flowers down into that pocket. You can tie, sew, or pin the elastic closed around their back.

MOTH COSTUME
I sketched out and then cut out the moth/butterfly wings, painted white designs and let dry. Then I cut two slots in the center of the wings and put two pieces of elastic through. You can tie, sew, or pin the elastic closed into loops that your kiddo can put their arms through.
PAPER DOLL COSTUME
I sketched out and then cut out the paper doll (make sure you have the little tabs!), painted white designs and let dry. Then I cut a slot on each side of the waist and put a piece of elastic through. You can tie, sew, or pin the elastic closed around their back.
