Carpets add a finishing touch to any room. They can revive your interior by adding a unique color and texture. Following, we are going to share 3 quick ways to clean and dry your carpet without any issue.

Brush with Soap

Ingredients

  • Liquid Dish Soap
  • Water in Spray Bottle
  • Cleaning Brush
  • Water in a Tub
  • Sponge

Make the Solution

  • Pour equal amounts of soap and water in spray bottle. Use a funnel to avoid spills
  • Close bottle, and shake it to dilute the soap

Clean the Carpet

  • Start from one end and work over the whole carpet to the end
  • Spray solution on the carpet and brush it carefully
  • Brush in a single direction instead of going back, try to brush a couple of strokes in forwarding direction and then backward and sideways. Spray the solution in between brushing as needed
  • Let the soap sit on areas with caked on grim for a few minutes before you brush them

Remove the Soap

  • Once you are done with the brush, you need to lift the soap out of the carpet
  • Soak a sponge in a tub of clean water and squeeze the excess water
  • Run damp sponge over the carpet and absorb the soap solution
  • Rinse sponge in water and repeat above steps until you get rid of the maximum amount of soap from the carpet
  • Cover the whole carpet like this, work from one corner to another and towards exit so you don’t walk on a clean carpet to exit the room

Let the carpet dry, use a wet vacuum to get rid of moisture and let it dry fast. You can also improve the ventilation area by using fans, air conditioner, dehumidifier and speed up the drying process.

Steam Cleaning

  • Prepare the carpet beforehand, and ventilate the room for quick drying
  • Put some detergent in hot water, and follow the instructions given on your steam cleaner. You can use specialized detergents, but liquid dish soap will do just fine
  • Start from corners, work your way towards exit so you won’t trap yourself in a corner, or walk in a recently cleaned part
  • Push machine forward to eject detergent water and pull it back to suck it.  This is your cleaning strategy; it removes as much moisture as possible
  • Once you are done, leave the room as it for hours and let the carpet dry. Depending on the temperature and humidity, it can take 4-12 hours
  • Speed up the drying process by using fans, air conditioner, dehumidifiers or even cotton carpet bonnets

Vacuum

  • Start with corners, and work your way to middle and exit
  • Use a crevice tool for narrow areas and a bristle attachment for open areas. Bristle will loosen dirt and debris, letting the vacuum suck it up
  • Depending on the condition of the carpet, you need to go over every portion multiple times and move vacuum cleaner in different directions
  • Empty the vacuum bag whenever it is filled two-thirds or even half. This prevents spills, and the suction power remains strong. Click and learn more here.
